On a forested hillside, twenty minutes outside Kandy, The Kandy House is a stylish boutique hotel steeped in history and character. Originally the private residence of the Prime Minister of the Kandyan Kingdom, the 19th-century manor house has been sensitively restored and is located amidst a 6-acre tropical garden. The Kandy House embraces the elegance of a bygone era while meeting the demands of the modern-day traveller.
Deluxe Rooms are set around the central courtyard, while the larger Ultra Deluxe Rooms and the charming Suite, with its quirky Octagonal bath in the middle of the bedroom, are dotted around the property.
Meals at The Kandy House are chosen from a set menu. Guests can either dine in the colonial-style indoor dining room or opt for the more informal verandah overlooking the garden. The Chef and his team organise hugely popular ‘Sri Lankan Curry Feasts’ twice weekly.
Leisure facilities include an infinity-edge pool, indoor board games and a library. With prior notice, it is possible to arrange yoga. There is also an in-house masseur who offers relaxing head massages. For The Kandy House’s more active guests, there are bicycles to explore the neighbouring villages.
