Where to visit in July
A peak season for travel to the Mediterranean, the Turquoise coast of Turkey is a perfect destination for a July holiday. Why not start your Turkish tour in Edirne at the Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Festival? July is the low season in Jordan, and even though it is hot, a relaxed family holiday is an option during the school holidays. It can be hot in Tbilisi and the lowlands in Georgia, but the weather is great for hiking in the Caucasus or visiting the mountainous regions. Armenia enjoys a similar climate, which is another option for a July holiday. Kashmir in India, with its tranquil lakes and lovely Himalayan vistas, is also a prime destination in July, as is the upland desert of Ladakh, where there is the added draw of the Hemis Festival. Sri Lanka‘s Cultural Triangle and east coast are also good for a July holiday.
July’s events include Khareef in southern Oman, which hails the arrival of the monsoon. Jerash Festival of Arts and Culture takes place in Jordan, and music fans head to the Black Sea Jazz Festival in Georgia. Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Festival is one of Turkey’s more unusual events.
