Simple yet charming converted planter's residence

One of Sri Lanka’s best-kept secrets, Rangala House is located on the edge of the Knuckles mountain range, in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country. Originally a tea planter’s residence, the property has been tastefully converted into a simple yet charming guest house that exudes colonial style and old-world charm and is surrounded by a lush tropical garden.

The main house has three comfortably furnished rooms with ensuite facilities. Two rooms open onto the verandah and offer glorious mountain views, while the third room offers garden views. Adjacent to the main house is the spacious Studio – Rangala House’s most popular room. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and a cosy living room with a stone fireplace.

The living room, which is part of the main house, offers panoramic views of the knuckles mountain range and is equipped with a satellite TV, DVD player, music system, several board games, and an excellent collection of books. Rangala House is an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular surrounding countryside on foot.

Soft trekking options include visits to the nearby Dukwari Tea estate and village walks. With advance notice, going on short treks within the Knuckles Range (45 minutes away) is also possible.
