Tranquil 1920's planter's residence set within a working tea and rubber estate

On a hillock offering sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, the Rosyth Estate House is a beautifully converted planter’s bungalow set amidst a 64-acre working tea and rubber estate in Kegalle – just over an hour from Kandy and two hours from Colombo International Airport.

Built in the 1920s by Aollin Ondaatje, whose great nephew is the acclaimed author Michael Ondaatje, the main house has three Classic rooms named after locally grown spices and fruits. Adjacent to the bungalow are three Deluxe rooms that offer more space and feature a private terrace or a balcony.

Enticing Sri Lankan and Western cuisine is served in the dining pavilion overlooking the mountains. For those interested, the chef can conduct cookery demonstrations. Other facilities at Rosyth Estate House include an outdoor swimming pool, a well-stocked library and a lounge room with satellite TV and indoor board games. There are also mountain bikes for hire for those who would like to explore the surrounding countryside. Village walks and visits to tea estates and tea factories can also be arranged.
