Palais Harran

Steeped in centuries of history, Palais Harran offers guests the rare opportunity to stay in a lovingly restored aristocratic residence in the holy city of Kairouan. Originally the home of a wealthy family, the mansion is thought to date back to the 13th century and once welcomed poets, theologians, traders, and travellers along the trans-Saharan caravan routes. Today, thoughtfully restored in keeping with the architectural traditions of Kairouan, it pays tribute to the master craftsmen of the era.

The hotel offers just five rooms, each individually decorated to tell the story of the scholars, artists, and merchants who once called this place home. Antique-style reproductions are paired with traditional materials, and wherever possible, original features have been preserved or tastefully reinterpreted. All rooms are air-conditioned and feature ensuite bathrooms, with views across either the old city or the peaceful central courtyard.

Guests can enjoy Tunisian specialities alongside a selection of Continental dishes in the main dining room. The atmosphere is informal, with an emphasis on fresh local produce and traditional recipes that celebrate the flavours of the region. The hotel is conveniently located within a five-minute walk of the Great Mosque of Kairouan, and is an ideal base for exploring the city’s winding streets, souqs, and religious monuments.
