Seaside Sophistication
Perched above Tunisia’s iconic blue-and-white village of Sidi Bou Said, Maison Dedine transforms a historic family home into a stunning boutique hotel with breathtaking views of the Bay of Tunis.
Originally built by Saad Eddine Sinaoui – the son of a Sheikh of the Great Mosque of Zitouna in Tunis and a part-time painter and sailor – Maison Dedine is a labour of love, assembled stone by stone over seven years. The architecture is inspired by a ship drifting on the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make the bay the central focus of the experience.
Each meticulously renovated room bears the name of a family member, honouring the founder’s legacy with personal touches throughout the villa‑style residence. This adults‑only retreat offers just five individually decorated rooms (25–30 sqm), each designed to take in sea views through grand bay windows or private terraces. Every room features a queen-sized bed, a black and white marble bathroom with Guerlain amenities, climate control, a minibar, a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth audio, and a Nespresso coffee machine and Eilles tea selection. Complimentary high‑speed Wi‑Fi is available throughout.
The 12‑metre infinity lap pool appears to merge with the Mediterranean, surrounded by sun terraces that invite both basking and sunset cocktails. The communal “Espace Méditerranée” lounge is a serene living area where guests gather for quiet reflection or shared apéritifs overlooking the water. Rooftop terraces offer panoramic views and space for sunbathing or morning yoga, and in‑room massages can be arranged on request. Breakfast is served on the rooftop, featuring freshly baked pastries and the finest Tunisian ingredients. Sunset cocktails and light suppers on the terrace make the most of the sea view setting.
Maison Dedine is ideally situated for exploring Sidi Bou Said’s cobbled streets, blue-and-white houses, art galleries and shops. The ancient ruins of Carthage and the treasures of the Bardo Museum are within easy reach. The nearby marina offers paddleboarding and kayaking, while land-based pursuits such as horse riding, golf, tennis, and cycling can also be arranged.
With its mesmerising sea views, architectural artistry and superb hospitality, Maison Dedine is one of Sidi Bou Said’s most captivating boutique escapes – the ultimate address for discerning travellers seeking refined elegance by the water.
Note: Maison Dedine does not have a restaurant, but we can make recommendations for nearby dining options.
