Khajuraho
The renowned Khajuraho temples, built by the Chandela rulers in the 10th century, are architectural masterpieces showcasing North Indian style. Famed for their magnificent sculptures, including erotic themes from the Kama Sutra, these UNESCO World Heritage sites attract visitors to Madhya Pradesh. The temples, constructed between 950 AD and 1050 AD, feature exquisite stone carvings depicting scenes of everyday life and intimate moments from the Kama Sutra.
Originally comprising around 85 temples, only 25 remain today, rediscovered by British Army Captain T.S. Burt in the 1830s. These surviving structures provide a glimpse into ancient craftsmanship and cultural life, making Khajuraho a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
