Tour Overview

ATHIRAPALLY • WYANAD • NAGARHOLE NATIONAL PARK • NORTH KERALA BACKWATERS • BEKAL

Northern Kerala is an astonishingly beautiful, lush, and relatively undiscovered region of south India that enjoys a distinct culture shaped by the spice trade and, refreshingly, still wallows decades behind the southern part of the state in terms of visitor numbers and development.

This privately chauffeured north Kerala holiday has been designed to appeal to the visitor who is looking to travel off the beaten track on a highly scenic tour that combines natural beauty with wildlife and walking, as well as time to relax by the balmy shores of the Indian Ocean. Highlights of the journey include cruising in a stylish traditional houseboat through the tranquil north Keralan backwaters, exploring the verdant hills of the Western Ghats with their wild elephants, waterfalls, spice plantations, and misty peaks; and discovering the historic 300-year-old Bekal Fort – the largest in Kerala.

Along the way, the Arabian influences on north Kerala’s culture, cuisine, architecture and religious beliefs will be revealed, and you will visit the spot where Vasco da Gama, the first documented European to set foot in southern India, landed in 1498. This north Kerala holiday is almost guaranteed to intrigue, delight and enchant the senses!
