Mehmet Ali Aga Mansion

A beautifully restored Ottoman residence, the Mehmet Ali Aga Mansion was built in the early 19th century for the local governor and is amongst the pine-covered hills in the quiet village of Resadiye on the sleepy Datca Peninsula.

Referred to as a “museum hotel” by its current owners, the original mansion is full of lovely original features, including tall arched arcades, patterned wooden ceilings, sleeping platforms, stone fireplaces and painted waterside scenes of old Istanbul. There is also an authentic hammam and an extensive garden with citrus, pomegranate and fig trees, medicinal herbs, and fragrant jasmine.

Accommodation is spread between 13 Stone rooms around the property’s perimeter, four Deluxe Mansion rooms, and two Suites in the original building. The simple rustic Stone rooms have interiors influenced by Ottoman design and harmonise the past with contemporary comforts, including air-conditioning. Each of the rooms and suites in the original building is unique and beautifully decorated in the traditional Ottoman style – although it is important to note that they are not air-conditioned. None of the rooms have televisions.

In addition to the hammam, the Mehmet Ali Aga Mansion facilities include a Turkish restaurant with an Ottoman touch, a bar, and an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel isn’t on the coast but offers a complimentary private shuttle to its private beach, 4 km away.
