The best location in Trongsa
Yangkhil Resort occupies a dramatic mountainside location overlooking Trongsa’s magnificently located dzong and is the best hotel in town. While the standard of accommodation at the Yangkhil Resort must be considered modest, this is a pleasant and relaxing place to break the journey when travelling to Bumthang.
The resort’s décor is attractive and has a traditional Bhutanese feel, including colourful Buddhist paintings, fluttering prayer flags, and an enormous prayer wheel. Accommodation is in 21 rather plain rooms arranged in clusters within the hotel’s gardens. Each room has an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and a balcony with a table and chairs. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, although the signal can be weak.
It should be noted that rooms do not have televisions. Facilities at the Yangkhil Resort include a buffet restaurant and bar and a terrace on which you can sit out and listen to the wonderful ‘orchestra’ of a million cicadas.
