Tucked away in the Sri Lankan countryside, on the way to the Cultural Triangle and Kandy, Casa Heliconia is a cosy two bedroom villa surrounded by lush gardens, only an hour’s drive from Colombo Airport. Inspired by Cambodia’s iconic temple ruins, Temple Angkor, the larger of the two rooms, is decorated with antiques and artefacts. The private bathroom with its garden shower and bath (not ensuite) is stylishly fitted with ornamental units. Temple Angkor also has a private dining space and kitchen where food can be cooked on an open fire according to guests’ requirements. Pagoda Gold, the smaller of the two rooms, has a private dining space and a stylish washroom (shower only, no bath). Food at Casa Heliconia is based on local produce and the freshest of ingredients. Breakfast includes fruit juices, fruit platters (based on seasonal produce), eggs and bread served with tea / coffee. Lunch menu usually features salads and light dishes and dinner is normally a traditional Sri Lankan meal, which might include mild vegetarian, seafood or meat curries served with rice or flat bread (roti) and local sweet delicacies. Other facilities include a small infinity pool and a library with flat-screen television, music and DVD player, PC with complimentary Wi-Fi for guests’ personal use.
