Yadis Desert Camp, Ksar Ghilane

In the deep south of Tunisia where the rocky hammada desert meets the drifting dunes of the Sahara, the remote oasis of Ksar Ghilane with its tall swaying palm trees and natural spring, is the location for what is arguably the finest desert experience in Tunisia – the Yadis Desert Camp. The camp is surprisingly comfortable, and set within four hectares of land, offering accommodation in 60 star shaped linen tents. Each spacious air-conditioned / heated tent is large enough to stand up in, decorated in a simple Berber style, and equipped with electricity; a proper bed; en suite fully plumbed bathroom (with shower, washbasin, and w/c); separate sitting area; and wardrobe. Sandy paths lead from the tents to one of the most appealing features of the Yadis Desert Camp: its large green tiled free-form swimming-pool which blends in perfectly with the surroundings of the oasis. Overlooking the entire area is the camp’s Arab-style observation tower which has stunning views over the oasis of Ksar Ghilane and the desert beyond.
