Perched on a headland overlooking the Indian Ocean, the luxurious Cape Weligama is flanked by two secluded beaches on Sri Lanka’s south coast and is spread across 12 acres of landscaped gardens. Conceived as a traditional Sri Lankan village, the resort, designed by eminent Thai architect Lek Bunnag, offers a collection of free-standing residences and clusters of rooms and suites. Dotted across the landscaped tropical gardens are ‘Wattas’ (stone walled landscaped gardens). Each Watta comprises of two to three spacious residences that share a pool. There are also 4 two-storey Walauwa’s (mansions) that are built around a shallow pool. Each Walauwa offers two ocean view Master suites and two ocean view Junior Suites. The two suites on each floor can be connected and are ideal for families as well as small group of friends travelling together. All rooms and suites are stylishly designed with wooden floors, terracotta-tiled rooftops, private verandahs or terraces and superbly furnished with all modern conveniences. Cape Weligama offers a range of dining options including authentic Japanese at the cliff edge Teppanyaki restaurant, traditional Sri Lankan at the alfresco style Kumbuk restaurant and at the spectacular ocean view Dining Pavilion guests have the option to choose fresh vegetables, seafood or meat from the on-site market and have it prepared according to individual preferences.
