Modest
A convenient base for those who wish to climb up to the summit of Adam’s Peak, the Slightly Chilled Guest House is modest family-run property offering the best accommodation available in the vicinity of Sri Lanka’s tallest mountain. Slightly Chilled House is built from local stone and timber and has large glass panels to take in the glorious views of Adam’s Peak. The spacious, modestly furnished, light and airy rooms feature polished wooden floors, exposed timber beams and large windows that flood the rooms with natural light. All rooms have a private balcony to enjoy the magnificent views over the surrounding landscape but it should be noted that some rooms don’t have ensuite facilities and consequently share a bathroom. The Dining Room offers sublime views of the Adam’s Peak and serves delicious Sri Lankan curries as well as a limited selection of Chinese and Continental cuisine. With advance notice, the Chef will prepare a picnic breakfast for guests to relish on reaching the summit. Leisure facilities at the Slightly Chilled Guest House include a TV room, which is also the only area within the guest house where WiFi is available for in-house guests to connect. As climbs up to Adam’s Peak start usually commence around 1:30am, it is worth bearing in mind that guests rarely spend much time at the Slightly Chilled House, using it as a somewhere to relax for a few hours before the exhilarating climb and to have a wash and hearty breakfast on your return before moving on elsewhere.
