Superior
Surrounded by wilderness, Melheim Resort is set on a hillock and offers panoramic views of the Southern Highlands. Between January and May, on a clear day, the views extend as far as the Uda Walawe reservoir and the Hambantota harbour. This simple, tranquil resort is ideal for those who wish to trek to the picturesque waterfalls in the region including Diyaluma and Dunhinda, or explore the small hill country town of Ella famous for the scenic Ella Gap and Ravana Falls. Melheim Resort has 16 tastefully furnished rooms spread between four separate buildings – all with polished cement floors and floor to ceiling windows. Smaller Standard Rooms occupy the lower levels while the marginally bigger Deluxe Rooms are higher up and have glorious views. The location of the resort on the hills of Haputale means that air-conditioning is not required even during the summer months. Melheim Resort’s restaurant serves both Sri Lankan and Continental cuisine. Leisure facilities at the resort include an outdoor swimming pool, steam room, indoor board games and a small gym. The design of Melheim Resort is not suitable for people with mobility issues and families with toddlers.
