Picturesquely set on the banks of the serene Rathgama Lake, MO River House is a small, tranquil retreat and an ideal base for families as well as couples who would like to combine soft adventures with quality time to relax and unwind. Once a 19th century coconut planter’s residence, this charming converted villa has been superbly re-designed by its present owners, so that colonial charm meets combines with contemporary conveniences. Accommodation comprises of two individually designed deluxe rooms on the ground floor and a spacious attic room on the first floor. The two deluxe rooms are ideal for couples and have high ceilings, exposed wood beams and polished cement floors as well as four-poster beds, antique furniture, TV and modern ensuite bathrooms. While the upstairs attic room is spacious and features two extra beds making it perfect for families travelling with young children. The main house also has a dining room and a living room where guests can relax during the day, read a book or play board games. Apart from the main living and dining room, MO River House has a number of private spaces in the garden where guests can while away the hours or enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner at night. The salt water pool which is in the back garden of the bungalow, has been built strategically a few feet from the patio in close proximity to the lake offering breathtaking vistas of the natural surroundings. There is also a patio at the back of the villa, which overlooks the Rathgama Lake and an ideal spot for sundowners. MO River House is managed by a friendly local couple who conscientiously take care of all the requirements of guests. At MO River House, guests have the freedom to choose when and where they would like to eat and delicious meals are prepared after taking into consideration guests’ preferences. Whilst traditional Sri Lankan is usually popular amongst guests, the Chef at MO River House will be more than happy to accommodate special requests wherever possible.
