Originally a colonial club, Heritage Madurai is set in 17 acres of lush landscaped gardens and retains many of its original features. This is the temple town's leading hotel and through its architectural style reveals inluences of the palatial Chettinad mansions as well as the magnificent local temple architecture. Accommodation comprises of 68 rooms and villas which are all tastefully furnished with modern conveniences. The one bedroom villas have an open-plan living room that opens out on to a private garden with a plunge pool, while the standard rooms with their terracotta floors and high ceilings with exposed beams retain their colonial ambience. Hotel facilities at the Heritage Madurai include a main restaurant serving Indian as well as international cuisine, coffee shop serving sandwiches and snacks, bar, an outdoor swimming pool designed in the shape of a temple tank, and a spa offering Swedish aromatherapy as well as traditional Ayurvedic massages.
