Dewalokam

Dewalokam is a simple, delightful homestay that enjoys a tranquil setting on the banks of the Kannadipuzha River in the foothills of the Western Ghats and is set amidst a lush 12-acre organic farm that cultivates a variety of spices including pepper, nutmeg, and cardamom amongst others. Offering outstanding value, this property is ideal for families as well as couples seeking an immersive experience. Enjoy nature walks and gain an insight into organic farming methods practiced in Kerala; pick black-pepper berries as well as other spices alongside estate workers and learn about the role of spices in traditional medicine; master your culinary skills in an interactive cooking lesson with the resident Chef; go for a swim in the Kannadipuzha River; trek to the beautiful Thommankuthu waterfalls; borrow bicycles from the hotel and explore the surrounding villages or relax in the garden and read a book. Accommodation at Dewalokam is in 11 rooms divided between the guest house and the main house. While the guest house is built overlooking the river and features eight simple, spacious tastefully furnished air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms; the three rooms in the traditional-style house are set closer to the farm, feature ceiling fans and an outdoor shower. Meals at Dewalokam is a feast of Indian flavours and are served in the dining room, where guests dine communally along with the hosts. Facilities include an outdoor pool and traditional Ayurvedic treatments can be arranged upon request. Dewalokam does not have an alcohol licence and guests are encouraged to bring their own. In our opinion, Dewalokam is perfect for families travelling with young children as well as teenagers and provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the Keralan lifestyle.
