The Carapace Lodge at the Ras al-Jinz Scientific and Visitors Centre is located within ten minutes walk of Ras al-Jinz beach - the most important nesting site of the endangered green turtle on the Indian Ocean. The Carapace Lodge offers accommodation in nineteen comfortable, though compact, air-conditioned rooms and twelve deluxe Eco Tents located on a hillock close to the lodge. Rooms equipped with en suite bathrooms, mini-fridge, WiFi, and satellite television, while the deluxe air-conditioned Eco Tents have separate bathrooms (with showers), mini-fridge, dressing table, and LCD Televisions. Dining at the Carapace Lodge is at the Sambuk restaurant which has a coffee-shop style menu and serves three course set-menus in the evenings. The exceedingly well presented Ras al-Jinz Visitors Centre is located within the same building as the Carapace Lodge and is dedicated to telling the story of turtles and highlights the challenges they face for survival. Beach access is restricted to between 8 am and 1.30 pm. Please note that the Carapace Lodge does not hold an alcohol licence.
