Set on the shores of picturesque Lake Gaibsagar, Udai Bilas Palace is a beautiful 19th century Art-Deco Palace that was formerly the private residence of the Maharawal of Dungapur. This converted palace evolved over a period of 125 years and still contains many of its original fixtures as well as the personal memorabilia of the Dungapur royal family. Accommodation at Udai Bilas Palace is in 23 rooms and suites each of which has its own ambience and is decorated with original art-deco furniture, 1940s wallpaper from England and handpicked upholstery. Whilst some rooms have superb lake views, others overlook the palace gardens. The Maharawal Suite was previously the private chamber of the ruler of Dungarpur and features a private terrace as well as intricate inlay-work. Cuisine at Udai Bilas Palace is predominantly Indian. Dinners at Udai Bilas are served in the palace’s grand main dining room where guests are often joined by members of the Dungapore royal family. Private dining can be arranged with advance notice. Leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, floodlit tennis court, gym and a small spa offering relaxing massages. Activities on offer at the Udai Bilas Palace include privileged access to the crumbling 13th century Juna Mahal, sunset boat rides on Gaibsagar lake, and the opportunity to visit Dungarpur Mews and see the royal family’s collection of vintage cars.
