Set within the walls of the magnificent 5th century Ahhichatragarh Fort (Fort of the Hooded Cobra), the Ranvas (Abode of Queens) was once the pleasure palace of the Maharajas of Jodhpur. Ranvas has been painstakingly restored over a period of 20 years and features water fountains, vivid frescoes and elegantly designed gardens that now form the magnificent stage on which visitors a unique can experience regal living from within the walls of an ancient fort. Accommodation at Ranvas consists of 33 rooms and suites that are divided between 10 havelis (mansions). No two rooms are of the same size they all are individually decorated using rare artefacts from the surrounding region. Each haveli has either 2 or 3 rooms; comes with a private courtyard, an outside living area and exudes the charm and style of the princely state from where the Ranis hailed. Facilities at Ranvas include two restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool and a Spa. Activities on offer include guided sunset strolls around the ramparts of the massive Ahhichatragarh Fort and a tour of the Nagaur town that lies just outside the walls of the Fort. The Fort is also the chosen venue for the annual World Sufi Spirit Festival and comes alive with mysticism, colour and an irresistible atmosphere as musicians and dancers from around the world put together a spell-binding performance.
