Usha Kiran Palace

Originally built as a royal guesthouse to host the Prince of Wales (later King George V), the gracious Usha Kiran Palace later became the private residence of the Gwalior royal family and then was transformed into a hotel in the late 1980s. Set amongst 9 acres of landscaped lawns and manicured gardens, this immaculately restored heritage hotel is noted for its striking stone carvings, delicate filigree work and offers accommodation in 40 rooms, villas and suites that are designed in keeping with its rich history and set overlooking the Gwalior Fort or the hotel’s lush gardens. While the décor is sparse in the light and airy rooms, the suites with canopied four-poster beds, antique furniture and artefacts are regal and blend modern comforts with old world charm. The more recently added luxury villas are elegant, harmoniously fuse traditional motifs with contemporary conveniences and feature a private plunge pool. The Usha Kiran Palace offers its guests an enticing range of dining experiences including Mughlai, Maratha and Nepali specialties from the royal kitchens of the Scindias, at Silver Saloon; alfresco breakfasts and dinners at The Courts and private candle-lit dinners by the pool. For an enjoyable Apéritif or the perfect digestif head to the art deco style Bada Bar Lounge with a century old billiards table. Leisure facilities include a fitness centre, an outdoor pool and a Spa where you can indulge in signature treatments from the Royal House of Gwalior.
