The Oberoi Rajvilas

The Oberoi Raj Vilas is a stylish, palatial retreat that is set among pools, fountains, a 40 minute drive from Jaipur’s City Palace. Inspired by Princely Rajasthan’s traditional architectural style, this luxury resort with its Mughal arches, high domed ceilings, crystal chandeliers and pink walls is set among 32-acres of verdant gardens and is built around a 18th century living Hindu Temple. Accommodation comprises of luxuriously appointed rooms, tents and villas offering unspoilt views of the surrounding greenery. The tastefully decorated rooms are set in clusters of four and six and open out on to a central courtyard featuring a traditional fountain; whilst each tent is set within a traditional mud wall and opens out on to a private garden. The tents with their polished teak floors, handwoven rugs, dressing area, free-standing bath tub and lounge beds for day use are supremely luxurious. It is the all-weather triple-canopy that often reminds guests they are staying in a luxury tent and not in a villa. The exquisitely designed and decorated villas feature a private pool, separate living room and a private outdoor dining pavilion. The Oberoi Rajvilas boasts two fine dining restaurants – Surya Mahal offers Indian as well as international cuisine and is open from breakfast to dinner; while Raj Mahal is a specialty Indian restaurant serving cuisine from India’s regions. The specialty restaurant is only open between October and March and is always closed on Sundays. The Rajwada Library Bar with its Italian marble fireplace, black leather chairs and walls adorned with lithographs of Maharajas has a colonial vibe and offers guests range of single malts, wines from around the worlds and imaginative cocktails.
