Shakti Sikkim Sandyang Lee Village House
Hotel category
Modest
The Shakti Sikkim Sandyang Lee Village House offers panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and updated to offer some essential comforts in a region where none otherwise exist. Each of the house’s five bedrooms has been thoughtfully decorated in a traditional style using locally sourced Sikkimese rugs, hand-made furniture, and is equipped with log-burning stove to keep you warm in the evenings (if you are travelling between December and February). Three of the bedrooms have private ensuite bathrooms (traditional bucket showers with running hot and cold water and western toilet) while the remaining two rooms have shared facilities. The living room at Sandyang Lee Village House is furnished with sofas and armchairs and is transformed into a cosy dining room for your evening meals. Breakfasts and afternoon tea with biscuits are served in the veranda, while picnic lunches are arranged by the friendly staff as you walk from one village to another. Dinner is prepared upon consultation with guests and is usually a mix of Sikkimese (momos, noodles that are not too spicy) and Indian cuisine. Indian wines, beers and soft drinks are included during your stay. As an honoured guest it is important to respect local customs and hence shoes must be left outside the rooms or on the shoe rack in the living room. Guests must be aware that this region experiences erratic power supply and whilst the back-up generators provide emergency lighting and hot water, we advise guests to keep the torch (provided by your guide) handy. Extra blankets and hot water bottles can be provided on request. While the village house is modest it represents a considerable upgrade to the mobile camping experience and offers a superb chance to experience the local lifestyle. Shakti Sikkim Sandyang Lee Village House is booked on exclusive fully staffed basis and comes with the services of a private guide, chef, jeep with driver and porters.
