Diphlu River Lodge is Kaziranga’s leading wildlife lodge and is conveniently located about 20 minutes from the entrance to the National Park’s central range. Set amongst lush green paddy fields and separated from the picturesque wildlife reserve by the meandering Diphlu River, this delightful eco-sensitive lodge is built on stilts to protect the buildings from floods during the monsoon. Accommodation comprises of 8 independent cottages and the 4 semi-detached cottages that are designed to blend with the stunning natural setting. The spacious, tastefully decorated cottages have been designed in indigenous style using local materials. The independent cottages feature a thatched veranda with a day bed to take in the glorious views of the surrounding forests, while the smaller semi-detached cottages all have balconies. Raised above the river at the heart of Diphlu River Lodge is the ‘Machan’ observation deck which is linked to the cottages by bamboo walkways that also houses an air-conditioned lounge, restaurant and small library. The restaurant serves enticing traditional Assamese, Indian and a small selection of Continental cuisine. Diphlu River Lodge also has a well-stocked bar where you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks while enjoying superb views of the Diphlu River. Weather permitting, camp fires as well as river-side BBQs are arranged. Activities on offer include wildlife safaris, nature walks and visits to surrounding tribal villages. It must be noted that the power supply Diphlu River Lodge can be erratic and whilst generators provide back-up power, guests are advised to keep a torch (provided by the lodge) handy.
