The Annapurna and Lower Mustang walking holiday in Nepal is based at some of Nepal’s finest mountain lodges and reveals two distinct areas of the Himalaya; the lush scenery of the Annapurna foothills and remote Lower Mustang - known as the ‘desert in the sky’. As the journey unfolds you’ll behold both the spectacular 8000m plus peaks of the Annapurnas, and the Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountain ranges. Your hiking commences with a scenic three night journey along the Annapurna foothills trail through a lush landscape of terraced farmlands, colourful villages and rhododendron forests. Then, on continuing by jeep towards Jomsom, the terrain changes dramatically as you near Lower Mustang, and is characterised by a barren desertscape dotted with austere Buddhist monasteries. In Lower Mustang you’ll set off on scenic day hikes along historic caravan routes, discover the Tibetan culture of the Forbidden Kingdom of Lo, and behold the lunar-like landscape to Kagbeni.

Day 1 Arrive Kathmandu Airport. This afternoon explore Kathmandu Durbar Square. 2 nights Kathmandu The Inn Patan Dwarika’s Hotel
Day 2 Morning tour of Patan. Afternoon tour of Kathmandu including visit to the Swayumbunath shrine and the Bodhnath Stupa. This evening witness the atmospheric ‘Aarti’ ceremony at the Pashupatinath Temple Complex.

Day 4 Drive to Pokhara and embark on a 3-night trek along the foothills of the Annapurnas. Today, you will walk along the ridgeline to the village of Birethati (1,025m). 3 nights The Annapurna Foothills Ker & Downey Nepal Mountain Lodges Ker & Downey Nepal Mountain Lodges
Day 5 Trek through terraced farmlands to Majgaon village (1,400m).
Day 6 Trek through beautiful rhododendron forests and secluded villages to Dhampus village (1,525m).
Day 7 Descend to the valley floor and continue by road to Jomsom in Lower Mustang (2,743,). 4 nights Jomsom Moksha Mustang Moksha Mustang
Day 8 Day hike to the villages of Thini and Marpha. Enroute visit the sacred Dhumba Lake (2,800 m).
Day 9 Trek along the Kali Gandaki River and through surreal landscape to Kagbeni (2,804m).
Day 10 Drive to the sacred Muktinath shrine (3,800m) and trek via Lupra, a Bon village, to Jomsom. Later, enjoy a traditional Ku Nye Tiebtan massage.
Day 11 A scenic full day drive following the Kali Gandaki River will bring you to Pokhara. 2 nights Pokhara Temple Tree Resort & Spa Tiger Mountain Pokhara
Day 12 Morning boat ride on Phewa Lake. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 13 Drive to Bandipur, arguably one of the prettiest hilltop towns in Nepal. Explore the main square and then after lunch return to Kathmandu. 1 night Kathmandu The Inn Patan Dwarika’s Hotel
Day 14 Transfer to Kathmandu International Airport. Farewell to Nepal.
