Kasr Ibrim

A cruise on Lake Nasser is the ultimate way to arrive at the remarkable temples of Abu Simbel and is a very different experience from the Nile. Created as a result of the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, the lake covers a 500 sq kilometre region known in antiquity as Nubia. The glorious arid desert landscapes are a stark contrast to the fertile Nile flood plain, and hold some fascinating and little explored archaeological remains. The M.S. Kasr Ibrim was launched in 1997 and offers a good 4 star standard of accommodation with interiors reflecting the Art Deco style of the 1920s. The vessel is the finest of the 5 boats currently cruising Lake Nasser and has 55 air-conditioned cabins (22.75 sq metres), 7 Junior suites (29 sq metres), 2 Royal suites (59 sq metres) and 1 Imperial suite (140 sq metres). All suites and most cabins have their own private balconies and attached bathrooms with bathtubs, showers and washbasins. Onboard facilities include a restaurant, bar, sundeck with mosaic lined swimming pool, sauna, fitness room, and marble steam bath.
