The closest hotel to Ras al-Jinz turtle beach
Carapace Lodge, situated at the Ras al-Jinz Scientific and Visitors Centre, is conveniently located just a ten-minute walk away from Ras al-Jinz beach. This beach is the most important nesting site for endangered green turtles in the Indian Ocean.
Carapace Lodge offers accommodation in nineteen compact but comfortable air-conditioned rooms and twelve deluxe Eco Tents on a hillock close to the lodge. Rooms have ensuite bathrooms, a mini-fridge, Wi-Fi, and satellite television. At the same time, the deluxe air-conditioned Eco Tents have separate bathrooms (with showers), a mini-fridge, a dressing table, and LCD Televisions. Dining at Carapace Lodge is at the Sambuk restaurant, which has a coffee-shop-style menu and serves three-course set menus in the evenings.
The exceedingly well-presented Ras al-Jinz Visitors Centre is in the same building as the Carapace Lodge. The centre is dedicated to telling the story of turtles and highlights the challenges they face in the fight for survival.
Access to the beach is limited to the hours of 8 am to 1:30 pm. Please note that Carapace Lodge does not hold an alcohol licence.
