Egypt was famously called the “Gift of the Nile” by Herodotus an early traveller who was drawn to Egypt to see what even then was considered one of the world’s most ancient and fascinating civilizations. This Egypt holiday is ideal for the first time visitor looking to explore the highlights of Egypt and enjoy a Nile cruise over the course of a week while travelling in comfort and staying at some of the country’s best hotels. Starting in the Egyptian capital Cairo, you will have a private guided tour of the great pyramids at Giza, and visit the magnificent Egyptian Museum with its golden treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamen. Next, fly to Luxor and board one of our preferred Nile cruises for a relaxing four night journey to Aswan. A Nile cruise through the timeless serene scenery of Upper Egypt is an almost unbeatable experience and the classic way to explore the grand monuments of ancient Egypt’s Pharaohs. Concluding the tour will be a night at in Aswan, and a visit by air to the astonishing rock-cut temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. Private transfers are included throughout, as are private guides for sightseeing in Cairo. Excursions from the Nile cruise and at Abu Simbel are on a shared basis.
