For example, the understood definition of ‘excellent English’, or ‘5 star accommodation’ in Syria can be very different from that in the U.K or the U.S.A. Likewise, finding the best Nile cruise, or deciding on the ‘right’ character hotel in Damascus, without access to firsthand experience is something that it is difficult to get right.

ABOUT CORINTHIAN TRAVEL’S FOUNDER
Corinthian Travel was founded by Hugh Fraser to provide, expertly planned, imaginative, luxury tours that give a real ‘flavour’ of what he regards as one of the most fascinating corners of this world. Hugh was brought up travelling around the globe and lived overseas for many years before returning to the UK. At an early age he developed a fascination for history and the cultures of far flung and exotic destinations – including that of the Middle East. Pursuing this interest led to a Bachelor’s degree in History and Greek Civilization, travel through over 90 countries across the world, and a successful career in the travel industry working for market leading companies in both the UK and USA. Since Hugh’s first visit to Egypt, the Middle East always held a very special place for him. His extensive destination knowledge of the region has been recognised on both sides of the Atlantic by organisations including: Conde Nast Traveller, the Washington Post and USA Today, and lies behind the unique portfolio of holidays offered by Corinthian Travel. When a region has so much to offer it is almost impossible to come up with a single personal highlight. Hugh asks: “with hindsight, how can one objectively compare the experience of watching the sun slowly cast the sky on fire as it sets over the Nile, and gazing for the first time on the magnificent Treasury of Petra? Or between the serenity of exploring the stunning desert Valley of Wadi Rum on camelback, and feeling yourself cast back to the Middle Ages when wandering through the covered markets of Aleppo and Damascus? There have been so many wonderful moments; and like the desert sands, the mind is in continual motion, concealing and revealing the magical forms and memories.” Hugh encourages you discover this very special area yourself!
